Blood For Blood - Enemy (Record Store Day Press)
I was really looking forward to this years Record Store Day for a few reasons. One, hopefully getting some new records, and Two, riding to Boo Boo Records with some my scooter club buddies. I was definitely more excited about riding up to RSD, but this isn't a vintage scooter blog, it's a record blog. SO, on with the records.
Blood For Blood were one of the first hardcore bands that I ever listened to. So when I saw that Victory was repressing this for RSD I was excited. I don't listen to BFB as much anymore, but they will always have a special place in my heart.
This ended up being the only RSD pressing that I got. I passed on the Ignite record, and Boo Boo's only got one copy of the Misfits "Walk Among Us" and it was long gone by the time I got there. I was told that are two colors of this 7", and that the white vinyl is out of 300 (and the most limited of the two). I'm not sure what the other color is.
I also picked up an old Northern Soul 45 by N.F. Porter that is a freakin' jam!

Studio One - SKA
When I started Nerd X Alert I set out to create a record blog that was dedicated to punk and hardcore records. I broke that trend when I posted the Morrissey and Smiths records awhile back, but I figured since some hardcore kids have a hard on for Morrissey (myself included?) it wouldn't be that big of a deal. So here we are and I'm posting a Studio One ska compilation.
You wouldn't know from reading my blog, but the music that I most listen to these days is Skinhead Reggae, Rocksteady, Northern Soul, and Ska. I picked up this gem at Boo Boo Records a few weeks ago, and since I haven't had a steady flow of records comming in I decided to post it here. Along with Trojan Records and Treasure Island, Studio One is a favorite of mine for ska/skinhead reggae music.

Trash Talk - Awake
Trash Talk had been off of my radar for quite awhile. Ever since their LP came out I kinda just stopped listening. Don't really know why. I only gave the LP a few listens, I think my tastes in hardcore were leaning more towards the youth crew at that time. Anyways, fast forward to the American Nightmare reunion show in LA on New Years Eve and me being surprised by how much I was into seeing Trash Talk play. I've seen them play tons of times, but it had been a long time since I'd seen them. For me their set was the highlight of the show.
I picked this up a few weeks ago from Boo Boo's the same day I got the Face Reality 7".
Anyone know anything about the "True Panther Sounds" record label? I perused their website for a minute, and it looked like some weird indie hipster label. Website doesn't have the pressing info.

Cro-Mags - The Age Of Quarrel (Repress)
What's there to write about this record that hasn't been written before? Nothing..
I picked this up at Boo Boo Records quite some time ago. I think it was right after the repress came out. I didn't hear anything about this record being repressed before I saw it in the new releases bin at Boo Boo's. So it was a nice surprise. The new layout on this record is top notch. It now has a gate fold cover, and some new photos on the insert and back cover.
The repress of this was done by Mightier Than Sword Records, a label I had never heard of before. Don't know why or how they got hooked up with doing this. The Cro-Mags are quite the change from their other releases. But, that doesn't mean anything. They did an awesome job on this.

Bane - Fee To Think. Free To Be.
ATTN: MCS (Marcus?)
I couldn't get a hold of your email address for some reason through your Blogger profile. I kept getting an error message. So I figured this would be the fastest way for you to see what condition the record was in, and for me to get a bonus post out of it!
I've never been a big Bane fan. This is the only Bane record that I own, and I don't even remember when or where I got it from. Hopefully Marcus? from The Endless Quest... will take this off my hands.

Face Reality - Self Titled 7"
Wow, wish I hadn't slept so long on this record!
Face Reality are a Straight Edge band from Detroit Michigan, and holy shit do they sound like Turning Point! (Demo and first 7" era Turning Point) I picked this record up from Boo Boo Records a few weeks ago, and it ended up sitting by my record player until last night when I finally had a chance to listen to it. (I've been hooked on reading The Hunger Games, so that and playing with the kids has taken up all of my free time lately) It's been years since I've bought anything from Youngblood Records. Youngblood was my favorite hardcore label during the early and mid 2000's, but somewhere around the Fired Up record I stopped paying so much attention. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it had to do with their decrease in new releases, or maybe it was the type of bands they were releasing but Youngblood definitely fell off my radar. ( I did like the Coptic Times 7" though)
So when I saw this record and saw the layout, it reminded me of Youngbloods earlier releases and I decided to give it a chance without even listening to it first. Lucky for me I picked up a winner.
I guess that this is Face Reality's second 7". I don't know when, or who released their first record but I'm definitely going to try and track that down. GET THIS RECORD!!
