Alert - Find Your Way

For those not in the know, Alert are a Straight Edge Youth Crew band from Boston, MA, with a very heavy Uniform Choice influence (vocals are reminiscent of Pat Dubar). 

I enjoyed Alert's demo greatly (still do!), so I was excited to check out this 7".  After only two listens, I think the demo still blows this out of the water.  There hasn't been a change in the bands sound or anything, I just think the songs are a lot better on the demo.  I also had really high expectations for this record, so maybe I just set the bar to high.  Hopefully after a few more listens I'll like it as much as the demo. 

I'm not sure the pressing info on this record.  If anyone knows, let me know.  



Street Walkers - Vile Thoughts

Street Walkers "Vile Thoughts" was another record that I picked up from my last Rev order. I first heard them at last years Sound and Fury, where I enjoyed their set tremendously. To bad not many other people thought the same as me. The more punk influenced hardcore bands have never got to much love at S&F (Deep Sleep, Striking Distance, Never Healed to name a few). 



Musically Street Walkers sounds like a slightly slower Tear It Up, with a little more black flag thrown in.

On the dust sleeve there was a sticker that said "limited color vinyl".  When I went to Six Feet Under Records pressing info page I read that the clear color is the most common color.  Funny, I wouldn't really consider that "limited".  Whateve's

Miles Away - Endless Roads

Normally I wouldn't do a post on a record before listening to it.  But as I mentioned before I don't have a steady flow of new records right now, nor do I have much time to listen to a lot of new stuff (especially a full length LP).  So for this post I decided to make an exception to my "rule". 

I was able to pick up this record last week when Miles Away stopped by Arroyo Grande, CA to visit with mine and Dennis' families before heading to their show in Bakersfield, CA.  Miles Away are on a US tour right now with Bane, Defeater, and possibly Rotting Out?  Sadly we weren't able to make it to their show (work, work, work).  Next time! 

I love the cover art to this record.  I think it sums up the bands overall vibe pretty well.  AAnnnd, that's really all I have to say about this record right now... I need to go listen to it, not write about it.

Clear Red Vinyl.  Has some white or grey streaks in it that don't show up so well in the picture.  The center label is also hand stamped. 



Stick Together - No More Games

So this is the last of the records that I picked up at this years Sound And Fury.  I bought this record at the Six Feet Under Records table.  Have I ever mentioned that I love SFU Records? Because I do.

This is the European pressing of this record done by Control Records.  The US pressing was done by  Back To Back Records.  Originally there was some confusion over which was supposed to be the limited color when the preorders arrived.  I guess the limited color was supposed to be orange, but ended up being being white.  1000 records were pressed, 100 on White, 300 on Orange, and 600 on Black vinyl.  According to Back To Back's web store they are all sold out. 

I originally down loaded this record after reading/seeing the hype on the internerd.  All that I knew about the band at that time is that the singer was in War Hungry.  So naturally, I was surprised when I listened to the mp3s for the first time.  I defiantly wasn't expecting to hear some late 80's inspired youth crew.  This record reminds me a lot of the first Justice 7", the vocals more so than the music.  My favorite track from this would have to be "The Real You (No More Games)".  That bass line is catchy as all get out and gets stuck in my head really easy.  Alas, I have never had the chance to see these guys play, and with all the shows I get a chance to see now days (hardly any) I doubt that I ever will.  Such is life.
