Step Aside - Reaching Out

I took a chance on this record, having never heard a single track from the band before I ordered this record.  I know, it could have taken me two seconds to search "Step Aside" on Google to at least hear what they sounded like.. but where is the fun in that?

I remember seeing this when it first came up on RevHq's upcoming releases page, and clicking on the link strictly because of the artwork.  In my book, Hooded dudes with no faces = awesome record!  So I filed the image away in the back of my mind to check out at a later date.  That later date came when I saw Mike's post on over at The One Thing That Still Holds True record blog (read his blog if you don't already!!!)

I'm glad that he posted this record, because in all honesty I probably wouldn't have checked them out, and I would have missed out on hearing a sweet new band.  I'm surprised at how much I like this record.  I liked it a lot from the get go, and that doesn't happen much with me.  Normally it will take me a few spins before I get into a new record.

This 7" reminds me a lot of what I was listening to around the early 2000's, and I think Step Aside would have fit in really well with that group of bands.  So, if you are a fan of youth crew, you need to check this band out.  You won't be disappointed.
